As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
Author Guidelines
Thank you for choosing the Journal of Linguistic, Literary and Cultural Studies (JLLCS) as a venue for your manuscript. JLLCS is an open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed journal published by the faculty of Letters and Languages (Echahid Cheikh Larbi Tebessi University, Tebessa, Algeria).
By upholding rigorous global criteria, JLLCS ensures academic integrity, promotes visibility, and positions itself for eventual indexing in Scopus and Web of Science (WoS). To ensure smooth implementation, kindly comply with the following requirements:
Scope and Contribution
Relevance to journal scope: Manuscripts must engage with linguistic, literary, or cultural studies, with preference for interdisciplinary perspectives.
Originality: Submissions must present unpublished work that contributes new insights, theoretical advances, or empirical findings.
Global standards: Authors should demonstrate awareness of international scholarship while situating their work in local or regional contexts.
Manuscript Preparation
Language: Articles should be submitted in English.
Length: Standard articles should range between 6,000–8,000 words, including references and appendices.
Formatting: Use a clear, consistent style (Times New Roman, 12 pt, double-spaced). Follow APA (7th edition) for citations and references.
Structure: Manuscripts should include:
Title;
Author details: First name, last name, affiliation, country, institutional email, ORCID;
Abstract (150–250 words);
Keywords (5–7 terms);
Main text: Introduction, Methodology, Results/Analysis, Discussion, Conclusion;
Acknowledgments (optional);
Declarations (conflict of interest, funding statement, ethics statement)
References;
Tables and Figures:
Clarity and relevance: Tables and figures must directly support the argument or findings. Avoid decorative visuals; each item should add analytical value.
Numbering: Number tables and figures consecutively (Table 1, Table 2; Figure 1, Figure 2) according to their appearance in the text.
Titles and captions: Provide concise, descriptive titles for tables and explanatory captions for figures. Captions should allow readers to understand the content without referring back to the text.
Placement: Insert tables and figures close to their first mention in the manuscript. Do not group them at the end.
Formatting: Tables should be editable (not images) and use consistent font size. Figures must be high-resolution (minimum 300 dpi) and submitted in standard formats (JPEG, PNG, TIFF).
Source acknowledgment: If adapted or reproduced, provide full credit and ensure permissions are obtained.
Interpretation: Authors must discuss each table and figure in the text, highlighting its significance rather than leaving it unexplained.
Indexing compliance: Ensure that figure captions and table titles include keywords relevant to the study, aiding discoverability in Scopus and WoS databases.
Ethical Standards
Authorship: All listed authors must have made substantial contributions.
Plagiarism: Submissions will be screened using plagiarism detection software. A similarity index above 30% results in rejection.
AI use: Authors must disclose any use of AI with a specification of the model used. Ghostwriting and 100% AI-generated content are strictly prohibited. Authors must rely on themselves for critical analysis and interpretations.
Data transparency: Authors must ensure data integrity and provide supplementary materials when requested.
Conflict of interest: Any financial or institutional conflicts must be disclosed.
Submission and Review Process
Submission platform: Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online system.
Peer review: All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by at least two experts.
Decision outcomes: Possible outcomes include acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection.
Timelines: Initial editorial screening within 2 weeks; peer review completed within 8–10 weeks.
Post-Acceptance Requirements
Proofs: Authors must review proofs within 5 days of receipt.
Copyright: Authors retain copyright but grant JLLCS the right of first publication under a Creative Commons license. Authors may deposit their published articles in institutional repositories, personal websites, or academic networks, provided that proper acknowledgment of JSLCs as the original publisher is included.
Indexing compliance: Accepted articles must meet metadata and citation standards required by Scopus and WoS.
Special Notes for Indexing Alignment
Abstract quality: Abstracts must be concise, informative, and include keywords aligned with international indexing databases.
References: Papers should include a minimum of 20 references. At least 30% of references should be from recent (last 5 years), peer-reviewed, indexed sources.
International authorship: Collaborative submissions across institutions and countries are strongly encouraged to enhance visibility.
Citation ethics: Authors should avoid excessive self-citation and ensure balanced referencing.
